Halo 4 Main Menu Screen

During the GameSpot Campaign interview, after the Campaign demo the game returns the main menu giving us our first look at the animated backdrop.

As is the tradition with the trickle of Halo information we've been getting, it leaves us with more questions than answers. There's quite clearly a Halo in the background there, I suppose we shouldn't be surprised that Halo 4 contains a Halo, but it's the first we've seen or heard about one. There's also an absolutely ravaged planet that looks like it's been hollowed out.. I guess it could be Requiem, but it doesn't really look like it..

Not really sure what that thing next to the 4 is, a chunk of planet, perhaps?

  1. The thing next to the 4 is a chunk of the planet floating in space.

I think the Halo ring might be Installation 07. If you recall in Halo: Primordium Installation 07 passed around a planet which it was on a collision course with. I can't recall if anything in the book was said about the condition of the planet after Installation 07 narrowly escaped collision. I assume that due to the tugging effect of gravity (the pulling/"tug-of-war") between the ring and the planet as the two passed around/inside the other it may have caused the planet to rupture. The ring didn't escape damage either. It was later repaired and reduced in size due to the damage it sustained from the near miss.

  2. I agree with mc_razza. A very interesting theory. Maybey requiem meats with the ring during the campaign and gets tore apart.

  3. no mc razza 7 is right in a way the ring was 3 times bigger than the rest and it almost hit this unknown planet and the didact saved it from it being destroyed by medicant bias and was sent to repair. that planet it a moon of some sort like that planet in the middle of the ark and it to be repaired by it and its possible that requiem is right next to it and installation 07 might be a setting in halo 4 if not halo 5.

  5. I like it, but i would like to learn more about the halo in the background. i also want to know if thats Requiem because if it is. Then Halo 4 is truly going to be an explosive game.

  6. i agree halo isn't halo without a halo...sorry if you got confused there....i heard that requiem encased a planet and it could be that the hollowed out part you are seeing is the planet blown up??? so it could be that...but i don't get how the halo was there even though razza's theory is right that happened 100,000 years ago so...????? i dunno 343 have to explain this
