All 10 new Halo 4 Weapons Discovered or Revealed

Last month when I broke the story about Micorosoft's Halo 4 ExpertZone presentation we learned that Halo 4 would feature 10 new weapons. All ten new weapons have now been either officially revealed or discovered by fans carefully picking through Halo 4 media. Let's take a look at the new toys we'll have available to us on November 6th.

Rail Gun
We've yet to see or hear the Rail Gun fired (officially), but you can expect it to behave much like the Spartan Laser, but probably with a bit more splash damage.

Sticky Detonator
The first Halo 4 gun to be revealed was the Sticky Detonator. Seen by 343i as a replacement for Halo: Reach's grenade launcher (pro-pipe) it is supposedly much easier to pick up kills with. It sports a much bigger screen than its Reach counterpart to help you time your detonations. Tthe projectiles will now stick to surfaces as opposed to the bouncy projectiles of the Reach equivalent.

Unnamed Promethean Weapon
We don't know the name of this weapon, but it can be seen on the Halo 4 page on xbox.com. The silhouette makes it look a bit like a crossbow. We've yet to see it fired so can only speculate as to what role it fills in the arsenal.

Scattershot
I'm sure we've all seen this beauty in action by now, the Promethean equivalent of the Shotgun. A close range power weapon that vaporises foes. It's rounds can also bounce off hard surfaces which promises some interesting gunplay possibilities.

Light Rifle
The Light Rifle is the Promethean utility weapon, it has burst fire and single shot modes like the Halo 2 Battle Rifle. In the footage we've seen it has very fast kill times and looks a little overpowered, but I'm sure 343i will be hard at work making sure it fits in nicely alongside the other utility weapons.

Storm Rifle
The Storm Rifle is an evolution of the previous games' Plasma Rifle, it is rapid fire like its predecessors, but also more accurate due to the longer barrel. The name is interesting as we've seen from some Halo 4 toy packaging that Grunts were referred to as "Storm Grunts". Perhaps "Storm" will be some sort of socio-political faction among the Covenant. This may also go some way to explaining why they're fighting us again.

Mystery Weapon #2
No silly, not the Rocket Launcher, that stubby gun on the Spartan IV's leg has yet to be officially revealed. It has a similar form factor to the old SMG, but the orange light and angular lines suggest it might be some sort of Promethean secondary weapon.

Mystery Weapon #3
This is another weapon that we've yet to see fired, but it looks seriously meaty. With that form factor it has to be a power weapon akin to the Rocket Launcher or Spartan Laser.

Promethean Sniper
The Promethean Sniper was mentioned by David Ellis in the Spartan Ops gameplay video I posted the other day. The long barrel on this weapon would suggest this picture is of the not-yet-officially-announced Promethean Sniper.

Promethean Repeater
The Promethean Repeater was shown in the E3 Spartan Ops build, the name has only been mentioned once by anyone at 343industries when BS Angel referenced it in the Weekly Update that followed E3.

  1. Could Mystery Weapon #2 be a different build of the Promethean Repeater?

    1. Most likely not, the weapons vary too much in size and design too be the same. Good guess though, it might very well be possible for all I know. Personally, I'm praying to God that it is what it seems, a new SMG.

    1. These are only the new weapons, not the returning ones

    4. Actually, we havent seen any brutes, or evidence that they will be in the game. So it is very likely that we might not have any of the brute sandbox in the game (ie: the grav hammer)

    5. Frankie said that it will be possible to play Grifball in one way or another, thus the gravity hammer will probably return.

    6. Really guys? We wont have a gravity hammer in the sandbox because there are no Brutes? That's funny, because Tiger Woods wasn't in Halo Reach or Halo 3, yet his Golf Club was in the sandbox... Good thing we're deciding weapons based off characters.

    7. Maybe there will be a new hammer !?

  3. Where did you get that the light rifle is "quick fire like an Assault Rifle"? From what we've seen it shoots no faster than the BR or DMR.

  4. The storm rifle is like you said is the plasma rifles newer variant so I don't think it's one of the 10 new weapons

    1. Uhhh...yeah it is a new weapon. Play any Halo game you will not find the Storm Rifle in them. Have you even seen a plasma rifle? This looks nor functions anything like it. The Plasma Rifle was a short, one-handed weapon which was not terrifically powerful or accurate. The Storm Rifle is a large, true "rifle" type weapon that is decently accurate and quite strong in close-quarters.

This is just common sense. If the "Storm Rifle" has never been in a Halo game before, and Halo 4 is the first too have it, then it is a "new" weapon.

  5. My guess is the cross bow like weapon is actually more of a pickaxe/axe style weapon,... Maybe the gravity hammers replacement, especially now that the brutes are unlikely to return... But like I said, just my guess.

    1. Maybe, but we see them use their other arm as a melee weapon in the E3 demo so it would be odd to have a bespoke melee weapon as well.

    1. I seriously doubt that. This is the first time I've (we've) seen the Promethean Knight wielding this type of weapon.

  8. After reading all of these brute comments I suppose 343 will be so original to make humanity team up with the brutes in halo 5 and in halo 6 they rejoin the covenant? Just a guess dont freak out

    1. Yup, I'd guess maybe the Storm Rifle isn't classed as a new weapon or the crossbow-looking weapon isn't actually a weapon.

Or Expertzone was wrong and there are more than ten new weapons.
