First Look at Halo 4's Flood Mode

The French version of Official Xbox Magazine has revealed details of Halo 4's Infection mode, which has been renamed "Flood Mode"

The infected, will now appear as Flood combat forms. They have a "claw" which can be used as a melee weapon in place of the Energy Sword in previous games. The magazine also says that Flood players will have "enhanced vision" which will presumably be a variant of Promethean Vision.

It is not yet clear whether infected players will have the increased speed and jumping ability of The Flood combat forms in previous games.

  1. 343 are making this game even better than expected. Zombies was invented as far back as halo 2 and bungie didn't do anything with it through halo 3 and reach. Well done 343 !!!

  2. I read somewhere (I don't remember where) that the 'enhanced vision' is actually an increased Field of Vision. I hope it's true.

    1. We know that there is a linear experienced based progression system like Reach, there will be unlocks and stuff tied in to this. Frankie has alluded to there being a separate skill based system, but this hasn't been announced yet.

  4. But does this confirm the flood for Halo 4? I was really hoping to get away from this...

    1. It's been confirmed we won't be fighting Flood in Halo 4. I'd be very surprised if we didn't see them again at some point in the future though.

  5. The text in the image roughly translates as: "Particular attention was given to the design of the characters, regardless of game mode"

  7. I remember that Bungie considered doing this with Halo 3 or Reach (I don't remember which one), but the idea flaked out. I think this would be an incredible way to improve Infection :)

Think of all the possibilities with this! I can't wait to see if there is an evolution animation :D
