Microsoft Begin Swinging the Banhammer at Leakers

Microsoft’s Live Enforcers are taking no prisoners as they step up efforts to quash the Halo 4 leaks. People hosting illegal streams have found themselves banned from both Xbox Live and their streaming website of choice. While those posting videos from illegally obtained copies of Halo 4 on YouTube are smarting from similar retribution.

Reddit user l3luntman was banned from Live after he uploaded a multiplayer gameplay video to YouTube. The interesting part is that l3luntman had never played Halo 4 using his GamerTag or on his Xbox. He recorded the video on a friend’s hacked console and uploaded it to his YouTube account. Microsoft connected the dots as his YouTube handle matched up with a Live GamerTag and slapped down the ban.

Hopefully this won’t be the only such ban, it would be sweet justice if some of the scumbags spoiling the game on Twitter and Facebook had their Xbox Live accounts suspended too.
